Occupy Evolver: Realize Your Potential

Posted by
|
The global Occupy movement is much more than an economic or political movement. Occupy is a consciousness-expanding phenomenon.

The same people who mocked us before Occupy started, and said that there would never be a non-violent civil disobedience movement throughout the US, are now the same people saying that Occupy was a once in a lifetime or generational event. What these people fail to grasp or refuse to acknowledge is that Occupy was the first wave of a tsunami of transformation that has just begun to wash over the planet. It’s the first wave of evolution from a quickly maturing Internet generation. We are developing a highly sophisticated collective consciousness that transcends the conditioning of archaic shortsighted greed-addicted forces.

Every day more and more people are using the Internet to become more and more aware of the forces that limit human potential. And as their awareness grows, they are using the Internet to connect, communicate and organize with millions of other aware citizens on a scale unprecedented in human history. Occupy is the first cohesive expression of this evolution. It is the first ray of the new rising sun.

Occupy represents the new world evolving and transforming out of the old world. Occupy shifted mass consciousness and planted a flag in the global mental atmosphere. A critical mass of humanity is now awake and aware of the obsolete systems that limit our potential.

The fact that our economic, political and legal system has been overrun with corruption and is unjust, unsustainable and unstable is the awareness and common sense that unifies us all. The understanding that we need to transcend current economic and political realities, shift the paradigm, is what unifies us all.

Our current system of power and domination is built on manipulation and deceit. In the age of the Internet, they will no longer get away with it. It is an outdated paradigm; it’s an obsolete system of rule. Occupy represents the polar opposite to this system. Instead of manipulating and deceiving people, Occupy empowers them. This is an evolved approach.

The more you empower people, the more empowered you become. It creates a positive feedback loop, an evolutionary feedback loop that cannot be stopped.

The birth of the global Occupy movement was the big bang of humanity’s next phase of evolution. It created an unprecedented wild new ecosystem of energy throughout the world, an ecosystem of mass transformation. It empowered a new generation of aware and engaged leaders. Quickly evolving clusters of imaginal cells. Millions of people turned on, let out of the propaganda cage, freed from the mental police state, freed from conditioned consciousness.

That’s one way to conceptualize something so massive on a global scale. Another way, Occupy is humanity’s immune system, clusters of antibodies attacking the pathogen of greed, defending humanity against a virus, defense against systemic corruption and pathological shortsighted greed, humanity’s most severe disease.

The language of modern politics and economics is the language of a caveman, it’s all grunting noise once you tap into global consciousness and understand the potential and power that exists within us.

Watching Republicans and Democrats fight with each other is like watching two cavemen throw rocks at each other. It’s like listening to dinosaurs roar in the last days after the meteor hit.

Our government was created in the days of the horse and buggy. It took days or weeks to send one hand written message. People didn’t have the ability to instantaneously communicate with someone on the other side of the world. People didn’t have access to unlimited information at their fingertips. People couldn’t go online and take a course from MIT or watch a video lecture on quantum physics in the convenience of their own home.

A child with a smart phone in hand has more computing power than the president of the United States had only 25 years ago.

Time to evolve our system of government, don’t ya think?

Liquid democracy is where it’s at. Adapt or die, Mr. Washington.

As Jefferson prophetically put it, “Every generation needs a new revolution.”

We will soon have new ways of living that will make our modern age like look the stone age – alternative governments, alternative monetary systems, alternative energy, alternative healthcare, alternative education, alternative media, alternative food systems, the list goes on and on.

Occupy is a consciousness-expanding phenomenon.

Just choose a cause, an issue, a problem, a solution, an alternative, an action, a tactic, a location and set a date, and you can find a substantial group of people prepared to stand up and evolve with you, right now.

Make your intent clear. Organize, amplify and exemplify, and a community will quickly grow.

Organize, amplify and exemplify.

Play your cards right, build a network of like-minded groups, and you too will spark a mass movement that tears a hole through the sky and evolves society and humanity.

Decentralized self-organizing networks are organically growing and evolving, unleashing human potential far beyond what has previously existed. With each successive wave, strategies are honed, sophistication and effectiveness grow.

The ecosystem of mass transformation is now in place. One person with a smart phone in hand can spark a movement that topples a corrupt regime and evolves present circumstances.

We all aspire to freedom. Deep down in the source of our being, we all want to live free in a society where we can thrive, where we can work passionately at something to improve the human condition, and at the same time be able to take care of our children, give them a solid education, have quality medical care and keep a roof over their head in a healthy environment. That’s what we want from life. And with modern technology that is now something we can all truly achieve.

Sustainable prosperity for all is within reach.

Above all, we are in this together. We are people with opinions across the political and cultural spectrum coming together to find common ground. We are coming together to transcend conditioned consciousness, to transcend groupthink, to transcend divide-and-conquer propaganda.

We have now entered a new age of enlightenment. The renaissance has begun. The evolution is in process. Another world is happening.

Transcend conditioned consciousness. Free your mind. Occupy your potential. Now is our time.

Welcome to the ecosystem of mass transformation. Tap in.

I agree with Alen8. The elite are rushing to shut down and censor any means of unity and enlightenment the internet is providing. They are losing power and their weaknesses are starting to become too evident as the masses awaken so they are rushing in any and every way they can to hold on to their corrupt power and lifestyles. We must all remain united – the force of one is with us and the elite have not come to realize that no matter what they do, it’s over now and the meek shall inherit the earth just the way it was meant to be.

    Many Thanks, Everyone.
Here is something that I find inspiring:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.

There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people
    Won’t feel insecure around you.

We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
    We unconsciously give other people
    Permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from fear,
    Our presence automatically liberates others.

I think you have a serious issue about God. God is personal in a way that this forum is not. God helps those who help themselves. I will give you an example. In fact, it may even have taken place during Sandy.

A man is warned that there is a flood coming and he must evacuate his house. He refuses to do so and says God will save him. As the water rises to the first floor, a man comes by in a boat and wants to rescue him, and he refuses because God will save him. As the water rises he moves to the roof of his house, and rejects the helicopter that comes to rescue him because God will save him and then he drowns. He gets to the Pearly Gates and gives God an argument about why he’s dead and God didn’t save him. God tells him, I sent you a warning, a boat and a helicopter, but you didn’t pay attention. Why is this my fault?

Why wouldn’t you assume that he is a tool for Soros? You’ve assumed he is not a believer of some higher form of existence for the mere fact that he does not use in his post the 3 letter word you seem to think he should have fit in there somewhere? With all the topics he covers in that post, as i read through it, I did not once think it could have been written any better? If you think waving the god flag is your purpose in life, then wave it back and forth till your heart is content, but meanwhile, turn the judgement dial towards the left and when you hear a little click……stop……that means it’s completely off.

The Occupy Movement has people of many different beliefs.

For anyone to make that kind of critique on this post, to me, sounds like they’re missing the message? And if i may, let me tell you another thing your god may not come swooping down to correct for you…………and that is your netiquette. All caps when you post is considered yelling or screaming.

Stay positive because it’s all gonna work out ! However, i really don’t think it will, if we’re sitting around waiting for Bhudda, Jesus, and Alla to come save the day for everyone. There are both Athiest’s and believers that have contributed in pushing humanity to new levels of conciousness, and that’s a fact!

Even a Masseratti or a Ferrari will break down if you drive it long enough. Our political system is an old car (let’s say a Packard) we’ve been driving around for a long long time, and yes we get attached to our rides, but there’s way too much smoke coming out of the exhaust, and that can’t be good for the eco-system to say the least? Let’s trade this old clunker for a better ride so we can have true prosperity by educating ourselves on solutions that are tangible and that we can all benefit from. Real solution’s we can attain in scope so we may hand off a better place for our children. Respect Mother Earth……..she’s no fool! Very nice read David !

I’ve been helping spark a movement for direct democracy, a movement to stop supporting our current genocidal and undemocratic government so that we can build alternative governments to replace it.

And while I have reached many thousands of people all across the United States, I’ve found it impossible to reach the work-within-the-system and get-out-the-vote for Wall Street and politics as usual campaign that Occupy has become.

Occupiers who cannot have encampments due to police violence, voted for the government that bashes their heads in.

Occupiers buying up debt voted for the government that bails out the banksters and treats debt forgiveness as income for IRS purposes.

Occupiers trying to save homes from foreclosures voted for the government protecting and bailing out the mortgage fraudsters.

It isn’t just Democrats and Republicans. The US has a winner-take-all electoral system, so a vote for a third party, for a local initiative. and even so-called protest votes cast by leaving lines for federal officials blank, counts as part of the total turnout that allows the federal government to claim to have been democratically elected and to represent the will of the people. Turnout decreased in almost every state, but increased among Occupiers.

Is genocide in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mali, Yemen, Somalia, Libya, and Syria the will of Occupy? Everyone knew that only two pro-genocide candidates had any chance of winning, and everyone knows that only a pro-genocide voter would vote in an election like that.

If you want change, you have to stop delegating your personal power, granting your personal authority, and granting your personal consent of the governed by voting in elections that support the status quo.

“The fact that our economic, political and legal system has been overrun with corruption and is unjust, unsustainable and unstable,” has not penetrated the awareness of Occupiers who dedicated themselves to registering voters and getting out the vote.. “The understanding that we need to transcend current economic and political realities, shift the paradigm,” has not penetrated the awareness of the political operatives who dominate almost every Occupy in the United States, includiing most Occupy-related websites and mailing lists.

Only when Occupiers stop voting in the sham elections of the corrupt system that is in place now, will Occupy begin to become part of a global movement towards democracy. And I’m not sure that will ever happen. Most Occupy cities are under the control of political party operatives and most Occupiers would rather get beaten and arrested or even killed by the police state they voted for, than consider not voting.

Transcendant consciousness? Who do you think you politics-as-usual voters are kidding? There’s a real movement out here. It is called the Election Boycott Movement and it is opposed to politics as usual. And Occupy is one of our biggest enemies.

Fubar: you think those of us who went down to wall street are all idiots? Not all of us shit on cop cars or wiped our butts with the American flag. Lots of us are well aware of our corrupt government and I resent your telling me what I know and don’t know, assholes like you who think that your truth is the only truth. WRONG again. I know why I joined Occupy. Money needs to be taken out of politics. Steagall Glass needs to be put back. The govt should have paid off the mortgages instead of the banks, but what the hell, you are the genius who has the right to take a broad brush and shmear us with your crap because by not voting you are going to give everyone a voice. Yeah right. And hair is going to grow on the palms of my hands, the moon is made of green cheese and the earth is flat. And I believe the non-voters will be the first to use violence against people like me. Your threat has been duly noted.

Please try to calm down, Ms. Friedman. I’m 72 years old, completely nonviolent, and I have never burned a national symbol, defecated on a law enforcement vehicle, broken a window, or committed any other form of violence. I’m so nonviolent that I don’t even vote to allow innocent babies to be drone-bombed in my name.

I certainly don’t think that everyone who went down to Wall Street is an idiot. The people who started the movement in order to get away from politics as usual and create direct democracy, otherwise known in Abraham Lincoln’s words as, “government of the people, by the people, and for the people,” were brilliant. It was the political party operatives using Occupy to get out the vote for a government guilty of crimes against humanity who created the problem.

You can’t take money out of politics by voting in elections where corporations have spent billions of dollars to get out the vote. You can’t restore Glass-Steagall by voting in elections where most politicians are funded by big corporate donors and where those who aren’t are locked out and have no chance of winning.

The Election Boycott Movement is nonviolent, and totally legal. In fact it is the only proven nonviolent way to delegitimize a criminal government. http://fubarandgrill.org/node/1172

I don’t know why you are calling me names and making absurd allegations, but your evident hysteria can’t be good for your blood pressure. If you always see threats where none exist and react as if those imaginary threats were real, perhaps you should consider seeking counseling.

Mark, I fully agree with your point on not participating in and giving legitimacy to the corrupt political system but still winced when you berated Occupy for their voting strategy. This is probably because I missed any mention of Occupy’s activities leading up to the election.
I’ll just add that “not participating in elections” is great but must be part of an ongoing movement that awakens and educates the population about societies ailments, and pushes forward eclectic strategies for replacing the old paradigms with sustainable systems.
Various organisations and individuals are presenting a myriad of such strategies and concepts (TZM, Thrive, The Equality Trust, CSPER, etc.) and, unless it’s the same people joining each organisation, there is strong evidence of a global awakening that, supported by well-though out principles and strategies, cannot fail to bring about a momentous change.
As a long-standing Atheist myself, I tended to agree with Richard Dawkins view (as expressed in The God Delusion) that religions were not just outdated but actually harmful to society. However, just in the last 4 weeks, I’ve heard from three different sources that religions are actually an important asset. They have the hearts, minds and ears of their congregations and many are now on board with the same messages that we’ve been trying to spread.
At the recent Remembrance Day commemoration service in my town, the local vicar gave a watered-down call-to-arms sermon that wouldn’t upset the various military personnel in attendance but still covered the main points of stopping the wars, living in harmony with others and ensuring basic human rights both at home and world-wide.
As an example of how the message is getting out, watch David Korten’s Keynote Speech at the Trinity Institute which I’ve posted in the videos section. This speech was given to clergypeople of various faiths, people who it would be hard to dismiss as crackpots and “conspiracy theorists.”
I’m glad to be involved with this group and I’m lending my support to many others that are working hard to help us evolve before time runs out. Together we can find the way and make the change.

        • Mark E. Smith (@fubarista)

          December 2, 2012

Thanks, John. I guess I’m still angry because I watched as the Democrats and Canvass 4 A Cause turned my local Occupy, which I had been enthusiastically participating in, into a get-out-the-vote campaign. The lies and dirty tricks they used were time-honored techniques for subverting social movements.

Some things are helpful, but some are self-defeating. As an extreme hypothetical example, if I was trying to lose weight and decided to exercise every day, it wouldn’t do me much good if I also decided to reward myself by eating a big bucket of fried chicken and a box of donuts every time I exercised. I’d probably gain weight instead of losing weight.

Something similar happened here when people voted to elect a really great Mayor. He’s a former Congressman, a former Freedom Rider, and really one of the good guys. I happen to know him, and I admire and respect him a lot. He has already announced that he will do everything he can to help our local homeless veterans.

But here’s the problem, John. The Mayor’s race was on the same ballot as the Presidential race. We have a winner-take-all electoral system. That doesn’t just mean that we don’t have proportional representation like most countries where if a political party gets 5% of the votes, they get 5% of the seats in government. It also means that the winner of the Presidential race gets to claim all the votes, even those ballots where people only voted for a local initiative or candidate and left the line for President blank. The winner of the Presidential race takes all the votes cast in that election as part of the election turnout proving that they were democratically elected, have the consent of the governed, and that whatever they do represents the will of the people.

In practical terms, this means that those who voted only for our wonderful new Mayor, were also voting, whether they understood it or not, to delegate their power, give their authority, and grant their consent of the governed to whoever won the Presidential race, because it was on the same winner-take-all ballot. So for every homeless veteran our new Mayor is able to help with housing, employment, counseling, and other survival needs, the wars authorized by the President will create at least ten more returning home to our city needing help.

In an electoral system like that, even voting for the most worthy initiatives and the most decent local candidates, is self-defeating.

In other words, if I want to stop the wars and save the environment, and I vote for a local initiative to ban nukes from my city, or to elect an anti-war Mayor or Governor, but my vote is on a federal ballot that legitimizes a government based on a military economy dependent on fossil fuels and nuclear energy, I’m voting to grant my personal consent of the governed to more wars and more environmental destruction, and defeating my own purpose of trying to end wars and protect the planet.

It isn’t an easy thing to understand or explain, but a winner-take-all system is fine for a lottery and not at all good for an election. And we can’t change things by voting in elections that perpetuate the status quo by legitimizing the politics-as-usual system. If we want change, we have to stop doing things that are self-defeating, so that our creative efforts have a possibility of success.

The global politics revolves around energy, in particular the petroleum. Alternative sources of energy like solar and wind are susceptible to weather. Even though not appreciated in general, some nations have weather control technology. Thus solar and wind are not truly alternative sources of energy.

There is a field of knowledge — Energy From The Vacuum. Vacuum has no technology that could control it. I hope ‘Occupy’ would consider adopting ‘Energy From The Vacuum’ as one of the first goals.

We republished your article here: http://october2011.org/blogs/kevin-zeese/evolve-reach-our-full-potential-next-phase-occupy.

I added these comments as the transformation we are going through has been ongoing since well before Occupy. The Occupy is only the latest manifestaion. (There are hyper links in the comments so go to the link to see them.)

Evolve to Reach Our Full Potential: The Next Phase for Occupy

A call to transformation from David DeGraw, an early occupy activist from New York City.

A few thoughts before you read it.

    - Occupy is the political arm of the “great turning” (more and more). The transformation away from winner-take-all capitalism toward cooperative economic democracy, from carbon-nuclear to clean sustainable energy, from globalism to localism. We are in an age of transformation that was ongoing, before Occupy existed.
    - Occupy is part of a bigger movement that has its roots in the anti-corporate trade movement and the Battle in Seattle in the late 90s and worldwide opposition to the Iraq War. Like Occupy, these were global in nature. But, there are thousands of local protests that create this global movement. One key for going to the next level is to unite and magnify exising movements in soliarity toward systemic transformational change.

    - Movements are not linear. There was five years between Rosa Parks and the lunch counter sit-ins. Movements are more like a series of waves. They are constantly coming as we see with various occupy groups among them to stop foreclosures and evictions, challenge criminal injustice, provde mutual aid after Sandy as well as with the Chicago Teacher’s Strike, the WalMart workers, the Tar Sands Blockade and the fast food worker walk-out. We are all connected. We are part of something bigger than Occupy. Occupy was a tidal wave that, when it crested, allowed us all to see we were not alone. Our courage, gave others courage; and their courage gives us more courage.

Occupy Evolver takes this further and seeks to bring Occupy to a new level where we realize our potental.

The interaction here with Mark Smith was instructive. He started off very angry at Occupy and posted provocatively. But instead of others just flaming him, people took on his positions and feelings objectively. By calm discussion, he quickly revealed the source of his frustrations and they were discussed calmly for mutual enrichment of understanding. A very Occupy interaction I think.

Mark’s objections to falling for the electoral games were, I think, brilliantly played by Occupy when it refused to submit a list of demands. A demand implicitly acknowledges and accepts that your adversary is in charge and holds the power. You grant him that power, and demand that he use it differently. Afterwards, he still retains the power. Occupy refused to acknowledge the essential power of the elites. I think this is analogous to Mark’s refusing to vote, even if it is not as satisfactory to him. He should see that he got a part of what he is arguing for. Not voting must be a national movement, not a scattershot, personal decision. But refusing to demand, really got their goat and brought up issues immediately.
